Bring Your World into Focus

with LASIK at Cape Fear Cataract & Cornea

Are you interested in learning if you might be a good candidate for LASIK?

What is LASIK?

LASIK is a type of refractive surgery that can permanently correct your vision. LASIK can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. LASIK is a laser procedure performed on the cornea to help correct refractive errors and give you clearer vision.

Am I A Good Candidate For LASIK?

Some factors for candidacy include the following:

Your prescription is stable and hasn't changed in a year or more

You're at least 18 years old

You're not currently pregnant or nursing

You have realistic expectations about what the vision correction procedure can achieve

Your prescription is within the levels of treatment for refractive errors

Your corneas are thick enough

You're in good health

Your eyes are healthy

Your pupils are not larger than normal

As these are only some LASIK candidacy factors, scheduling a LASIK consultation at Cape Fear Cataract & Cornea is the only way to determine if you qualify for the procedure.

LASIK Alternatives

In addition to LASIK we offer several different vision correction procedures, including SMILE, EVO ICL, and PRK. Book your consultation now to find out which procedure is best for you.

SMILE

SMILE is a laser vision correction procedure that corrects nearsightedness and astigmatism. It is a great alternative to LASIK for patients who may have been disqualified due to dry eyes or thin corneas.

Rather than creating a flap, a lenticule is made using the VisuMax femtosecond laser to help you achieve crisper, clearer vision.

EVO ICL

EVO ICL is an Implantable Collamer Lens that corrects nearsightedness and astigmatism to bring you clear vision. The EVO ICL is an additive lens, meaning that no corneal tissue is removed during the procedure.

It is reversible and the lens can be removed by your eye doctor at any time.

PRK

PRK is a vision correction procedure that reshapes your cornea. PRK corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism in qualified candidates.

It’s often used on patients who want LASIK but are not a good candidate for the procedure due to having thinner corneas or existing dry eye syndrome.
