Eye Care Services

Dr. Brian Groat of Cape Fear Cataract and Cornea in Wilmington, NC is pleased to offer solutions for patients who have vision correction needs. Patients who are considering freeing themselves from traditional eyewear are invited to book an evaluation with our staff to determine if they are desirable candidates for lifestyle lenses. Our clinic offers two types of lenses that can be used to correct one’s vision while allowing them freedom from eyeglasses!

What are lifestyle lenses?

Lifestyle lenses are specific lenses that are used during surgery to improve one’s vision. These specific lenses can be used for the correction of conditions such as astigmatism or the need for bifocals.

Lifestyle lens options available

Our practice is pleased to offer two varieties of lifestyle lens options, including our multifocal lenses and toric intraocular lenses.

• Multifocal lenses – two options we provide that qualify as multifocal lenses include the TECNIC Multifocal and the Alcon ReSTOR lenses which can allow the full range of vision without bifocals or reading glasses. This allows patients to break free from eyeglasses and still see both near and far.

• Toric intraocular lenses – toric lenses, including our TECNIS Symfony and AcrySof IQ toric lenses, can assist patients who have astigmatism. Corrective lenses are no longer needed for these patients, thanks to this astigmatism correcting lenses available at Cape Fear Cataract and Cornea.

How are lifestyle lenses placed?

These lenses are used to replace the patient’s current lens to not only address issues but to improve their life by eliminating the need for eyeglasses or contacts. Patients can ask about the procedure during their consultation with Dr. Brian Groat.
